I want to start this little substack journey by introducing myself. It seems only fitting. I am Diana (pronounced Dee-anna, don't even get me started). My parents are Mexican immigrants who became American citizens when I was in high school and separated shortly after I turned 21. I am in the middle of 2 brothers, which honestly explains a lot about me. I had an older brother who passed when we were in our 20s, and boy, do I miss him. My younger brother is six years younger than me, and although I always think of him as my baby brother, he is happily married with kids of his own. My mom is my hero, and my dad and I are extremely similar, so do with that information what you wish. I grew up on a farm, working alongside my family until I turned 18, and I did Catholic mission work because I was madly in love with Jesus Christ and His Church, and worked at many parishes hoping to build up His kingdom.
Diana! I am so excited to hear about everything you have to say--all your "but that's for another day" moments I was ready to listen to a long story right then and there.
1. Something I love, in this moment, is this incredible Bangkok Green Tea we just got in the mail from Harney and Sons, and while we're just getting to cooler weather in Texas, I think I could drink a whole pitcher iced every day this week.
2. I just restarted Lord of the Rings on my Kindle as my putting-the-kids-to-bed reading. I recently finished Persuasion by Jane Austen!
3. I'm looking forward to taking the girls to the zoo on Wednesday, and hopefully getting to catch up with some friends this weekend!
I'm praying to the good Lord that we all had all our meltdowns for the week today--the baby was up for the day at 4:30 and it somehow only went down hill from there haha. But they're both asleep now so we're resting and getting ready for an early bedtime for us too. Next time you're in Texas you gotta let us know and we can hang!
2. I am obligated to read “Les Miserables.” Tickets for the musical were bought, without my knowledge, by my beautiful wife haha. Two months to get the 1463pg monster. Good so far tho!
Only want to say, as the middle son between two sisters, it is nice to know that certain manias which I have find their reciprocal in the opposite condition. “Seeking any sisters the Lord sends”--my true, close friends are few, but I hold on to them tightly. Hambone is my brother by choice if not Blood, and I have a group of friends from highschool whom I have not released from the service of our friendship either 😂. Community is important, and it’s gotta start close to home!
